Mitsubishi, the Japanese automaker, has said the Mirage subcompact will remain an integral part of its lineup in the United States, indefinitely.
Mitsubishi Mirage It lived out its existence as an affordable reliable car in various parts of the world. Even so, Mitsubishi stressed that it is still being marketed in other countries. The Mirage is still available for purchase for customers in the United States.
With the launch of Jalopnik, the production of this Japanese car only sold under 23,000 Mirage units in 2021. However, Mirage helped Mitsubishi to maintain the sedan market segment.
Unfortunately, this number is still lacking compared to the new Outlander, which has better numbers. Thus, the Mirage’s long journey has been longer than anyone expected to come to an end. At least, in its own home market.
Focus on selling SUVs
The manufacturer bearing the three diamonds has yet to give an exact reason to stop the Mirage. It seems that they really want to focus on selling cars in the SUV or crossover segment.
“Since the Mirage was discontinued, body color, options, etc. It may not meet your request. Please contact our sales staff for details,” the message read.
The sixth generation Mirage debuted entering global production in 2012. So, this marks the end of a nearly 11-year journey for one relied upon in Japan.
Still for sale in the US
Mitsubishi Motors in the northern United States hasn’t said much about the Mirage’s lethal injection in its home country. “The Mirage remains an integral part of our current US product lineup,” he concluded.
As soon as the lethal injection was administered in Japan, other countries are awaiting notification
In addition, the Mitsubishi Mirage itself is quite popular in the Asian market and has not shown a slowdown in sales, so production has been discontinued. Even in Indonesia, although the Mirage is the most powerful City Car in its class.
However, in the same Indonesian market, the Mitsubishi Mirage also stopped being produced. It is not yet known for certain what will happen to this model, because there have not yet been tests of the newest Mirage on the global market.
The latest generation Mirage gets a boost of 78 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 100 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm Eco Car Program Phase 2. This makes Mirage must have Anti-lock braking system (ABS), Electronic brake force distribution (EBD ), Brake Assist (BA), as well as stability features (ASC, ESC, ESP, etc.) for the standard safety features.
