MISANO – Maverick Vinales won the MotoGP Emilia Romagna 2020 race.
Vinales won the race after Francesco Bagnaia lost grip on the front tires from leading the race. The second position is occupied by Joan Mir, who becomes more and more mature with each series. Fabio Quartararo lost third place due to a penalty and gave the podium to Pol Espargaro.
The track
Starting from the first position did not make it easy for Vinales to take the lead in the race. Jack Miller got off to a good start and immediately cut Vinales at the first corner. However, this did not last long as Vinales was again taken over shortly thereafter.
MotoGP Emilia Romagna 2020 is witness to the history of the fall of the top racers. The first accident was experienced by Franco Morbidelli with Aleix Espargaro. Winner race last week this, he became a victim of Espargaro’s recklessness.
Not long ago Valentino Rossi lost grip on the front tires and was forced to restart the race from the rear. In front of his fans, the Italian driver couldn’t do much during his race.
From the front row you can see that the two top riders of the KTM Factory team have the opportunity to be on the podium. But Brad Binder had to finish the race early because he lost grip on the front tire in the same spot as Rossi.
Meanwhile Vinales, who led the race in a few laps, began to receive attacks from Bagnaia. Power Ducati, famous for being the fastest, made Vinales unable to resist the onslaught for too long.
Bagnaia got rid of the Monster Yamaha rider easily and went the distance. It can be seen that after being overtaken, the Pramac Ducati rider immediately left his rivals behind.
The race seems boring because there is no movement in the front row. The competition was in fact shown by Quartararo, who was slowly approached by Mir. Then Pol Espargaro, who chose a soft compound rear tire, started to lose grip.
With all his strength, Espargaro withstood Quartararo’s assault. Mir, who has a better time record, keeps getting closer and shows competition between three riders from different motorcycle brands, namely KTMYamaha and Suzuki.
Then the public was shocked by the fall of the leader of the race, Bagnaia. He lost grip on the front tire just like the other riders. The Misano circuit, which has a short and straight track, consumes very resistant tire compounds. Several runners have fallen on this circuit.
After Bagnaia ended the race early, the battles for second and third place were presented beautifully by Mir, Quartararo and Espargaro. Quartararo, who was feeling better on the tyres, continued to put pressure on Espargaro.
But Mir skillfully took advantage of the weaknesses of the two drivers ahead of him by taking it from the inside. Mir also smoothly eliminated Espargaro because his tires were running out.
Shortly after Quartararo also gets rid of Espargaro. It’s a shame, however, that Quartararo has been accused of having to take a penalty on the long lap because he too often crossed the forbidden green line. Unfortunately this French pilot ignored the order.
Vinales crossed the line with his head and at the same time it became his first win. Then followed Mir and Quartararo, but the last driver called was sentenced to a 3 second penalty for ignoring a long lap order from the Race Direction. The third podium went to Pol Espargaro. [Dew/Idr]
