Chery Omoda 5 is said to be entering the Indonesian market, obviously it has the potential to compete with Hyundai and Wuling.
Autos.id – Chery Omoda 5 will be included as a line-up of cars including the first electric vehicle for Cherry. Adding to its product lineup in 2023, the Cherry Omoda 5 will accompany Chery products such as the previously launched Tiggo 7 Pro and 8 Pro SUVs.
If the plan goes ahead, the futuristic-styled SUV could be launched in mid-2023 between May-June, or at the latest in late 2023. The latest news says that Chery will not only launch a petrol-engined variant of the Omoda 5 , but also an electric variant. . While the Omoda 5 EV is still in the concept stage, Chery believes the car will be suitable for the Indonesian market.
Citing various sources, Shawn Xu as President Director of PT Chery Motor Indonesia said that Omoda 5 is not only for SUV genre but also an all-electric (EV) car.
He also explained that one needs to prepare a high-end product if one wants to introduce an electric car in Indonesia, which means Omoda 5 EV. This is considered to enhance the brand value and also the reputation as a leading automobile manufacturer.

Chery said the Omoda 5 is designed to be able to use various types of machines including the all-electric version. Therefore, the dimensions of the electric version may not be much different from the petrol version. From the available information, the length of the Chery Omoda 5 electric car is estimated at 4,400 mm, 1,830 mm in width and 1,588 mm in height.

Furthermore, this electric car is also equipped with a 64 kWh battery which allows for a maximum range of 450 km. The battery can recharge quickly, from 0 to 80% in 40 minutes (fast charge), while normal charging takes 5 hours.
Price
There is no information or leaks regarding the Chery Omoda 5 electric car yet. However, compared with other brands, the price of this electric car is expected to be cheaper, especially as Indonesia expects the price to be very different if you they get incentives from the government.
