$15 Billion Airdrop? This is what the Thai opposition party promises

Thailand’s main opposition party is promising an airdrop of around 500 billion baht (about $15 billion) in cash within months of taking power.

The party official said the move should help revive the country’s struggling economy and provide relief to those struggling with “debt up to their necks”.

• According to a Bloomberg reporta Pheu Thai-led government plans to hand out 10,000 baht each to around 55 million citizens aged 16 and over if it wins the general election scheduled for May.
• Prommin Lertsuridej, who is in charge of leading the party’s economic policy committee, revealed that the funds will be disbursed using digital wallets based on blockchain technology.
• This will allow individuals to spend on goods and services in their neighborhood.
• Srettha Thavisin, who is one of the party’s three candidates for prime minister, reportedly said

“Our country has been battered economically over the past eight years, with less income and more spending for people. “The current government has fueled intravenous drips with small grants. It is not the right path and it does not stimulate appropriate and just economic growth.

• The opposition party has also promised a big increase in the minimum wage. Measures will also be taken to triple agricultural income and guarantee a minimum monthly income to households.
• While crypto trading and adoption is popular in Thailand, the ruling elite has sent mixed messages about the sector.
• Last month, the Thai government was preparing a series of tax breaks and incentives for crypto businesses that issue digital tokens.
