Ford introduces external airbag technology in its latest automotive products

One of the interesting things about this external airbag is the claim that it is possible when the airbag device inflates in an accident. Hopefully this feature can detect and warn the driver if it is difficult for him to avoid an accident, the airbags can deploy immediately and reduce the risk of injury in the event of an accident.

The use of these external airbags will take advantage of the pyrotechnic actuator system which is placed in the lower part of the bonnet inside. Subsequently this function of the external airbag can expand the airbags on all sides of the car interior, minimizing the risk of fatalities in the event of an accident.

In addition to reducing the risk of breakdowns for passengers in the car, this external technology can protect pedestrians around the car by up to 40%. This means that when an accident occurs, pedestrians hit by the car do not bounce, which can cause undesirable things.

As for when this external airbag technology will start rolling out, Ford has not yet mentioned the exact time. However, some rumors claim that this technological feature could later be introduced on several automotive products between late 2023 and early 2024.
