Formula E Gen3 cars are truly committed to increasing vehicle charging speeds by bringing a host of innovations and new infrastructure. – After being in development for some time, the new Gen3 cars can already be tested at the Ricardo Paletti racetrack in Varano, Italy, with a fast charging system that doesn’t make sense and is even expected to be a system Fast Charging with World’s Fastest Charging Time.

Gen3 cars get a lot of improvements over their Gen2 predecessors. The car was lighter, more powerful and more sophisticated, but more significantly, it was the use of a different strategy. The Gen2 battery pack weighs 385kg, the latest Gen3 reduces it to 286kg but has a reduced battery capacity to 51kWh compared to the previous version which was 54kWh. Losing only 3kWh for this noticeable weight difference alone is certainly impressive.

However, the lower battery capacity means the new car won’t be able to finish the race without charging it more often. This is where this newly developed 600 kW charging architecture comes into play. This new system is the fastest electric vehicle charging system on the planet. The fastest electric vehicle charger on the market can deliver 350 kW. The 600 kW charging allows pit stops to stop for just 30 seconds during a race.

Gen3 cars will also benefit from the use of two engines mounted one on each axle. Engine The rear engine now produces 469 horsepower, compared to 335 horsepower. The front engine produces 335 horsepower but will not be used for propulsion. Instead, it provides regenerative braking to the front axle. For this reason, the Gen3 car will be the first open-wheel formula car without hydraulic rear brakes and will generate up to 40 percent of the braking energy used during the race.

These new Gen3 cars haven’t raced in any official races yet. However, it is scheduled to take place in the next Formula E season which starts in January 2023 at the Mexico City E-Prix.
