As posted on the official Asean NCAP website, both the Honda HR-V and the Honda BR-V that were tested in the crash are the taller variants that come with comprehensive safety features such as Honda Sensing. Starting with HR-V which obtained a score of 81.38 from a maximum score of 100% obtainable. This earned the Honda HR-V a 5-star rating. Both cars go through the exact same set of test parameters.
Starting with the Honda HR-V which managed to obtain a score of 28 out of a maximum value of 32 for the safety of adult passengers. So for the safety of child passengers, the Honda HR-V managed to reach a value of 45.31 from a maximum value of 51. So for the Safety Assist or Honda Sensing function, the Honda HR-V managed to achieve a value of 19.50 from a maximum value of 21. Moving on to the Honda BR-V, this car managed to score 26.98 out of 32 for the adult passenger safety category. So for the safety of child passengers, the Honda BR-V scored 44.53 points out of 51. In an official statement on Friday (09/16/2022), ASEAN NCAP Secretary General, Dato’Dr. Khairil Anwar Abu Kassim said that both the Honda BR-V and HR-V are 2 SUV cars that have a very satisfactory level of security. He stated that the presence of several advanced features such as Honda Sensing was very useful in increasing safety while driving with this car.
He also said the child safety technology in these two cars has also been qualified for car standards in Southeast Asia. “We are very happy because various aspects of safety, both for adults and for children and the people around, are really taken into account and can prevent cars from various vulnerable accidents, which is very positive,” she said.
