In total, 49 car and motorcycle brands are participating in GIIAS 2023. This information was disclosed during the press conference for the car show which was held on Thursday (13/7/2023).
The GIIAS itself will be held from 11 to 21 August 2023, at ICE BSD-City. The event, which will be held for the 30th time, will present many vehicle brands from various countries. The details are 29 from the automotive sector, 5 from commercial vehicles and 15 from two wheels.
“This year GIAS 2023 showcasing the largest number of vehicle brands over the past 8 years is something GAIKINDO is proud of,” said Gaikindo President, Yohanes Nangoi.
According to Nangoi, with more participants in GIIAS 2023, it means that there will be more breakthroughs and technologies for the automotive industry to present to the people of Indonesia. In addition, export opportunities are also increasing.
The 49 car and motorcycle brands participating in GIIAS 2023 are divided into three categories: cars, commercial cars and motorcycles. Especially for cars, there are Audi, BMW, Chery, Citroen, Daihatsu, DFSK, GWM tanksHaval, Honda, Hyundai, KIA, Lexus, Maxus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, MG, MINI, Mitsubishi Motors, Neta, Nissan, Ora, Porsche, Seres, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Volkswagen, Volvo, Wuling.
So there were 5 commercial vehicle brands Hino, Isuzu, Mitsubishi Fuso, Toyota Commercial, UD Trucks. Over 15 brands of two-wheelers; Alva, Aprilia, Astra Honda Motor, Benelli, Exotic, Harley-Davidson, Ion Mobility, Keeway, Motoguzzi, Pacific, Piaggio, Polytron, Royal Enfield, Segway and Vespa.
“In 2022, globally, Indonesia’s automotive production currently ranks 11th, while for the domestic market, Indonesia ranks 14th in the world. With a total population of over 275 million people and a car ownership ratio of 99 units per 1,000 residents, Indonesia has the largest potential market in Southeast Asia,” Nangoi explained.
He added that Indonesia also has the potential to continue to grow export figures by leveraging Indonesia’s geographic location to expand export destination countries, especially to ASEAN and Australia, and taking advantage of the participation of GIIAS to showcase innovation in domestically produced vehicles and components to the international community.
Electric cars and Chinese cars participate in GIIAS 2023
This year GIIAS will highlight electric vehicles again, visitors can directly drive electric vehicles. This includes the latest EV innovations ever seen in Indonesia, which can be directly tested in the EV Test Drive area in the outdoor area of the GIIAS 2023 exhibition.
The brand new test drive arena, namely the water hazard, will also be presented. This arena is dedicated to electric vehicles to test the reliability of passing through puddles. Another consideration for the test drive arena is the growing number of electric car enthusiasts. GAIKINDO has noted an increase in the demand for electric vehicles, which was recorded at 678 units in 2021, increasing to 10,000 units in 2022.

For GIIAS 2023 entrance ticket prices, on July 14, 2023, the committee will open a special presale of VIP tickets. Visitors can purchase limited tickets to enter the first opening day of the GIIAS 2023 exhibition, for only IDR 30,000. However, pre-sale of VIP tickets is only available in the Auto360 application.
