The latest Mitsubishi Triton is said to be released this year, or on July 26, 2023 to be precise. The double-cab car is set to make its global debut first in Thailand, then is likely to continue in other Asian countries in between. including Indonesia.
The sixth generation Triton was previously presented in form XRT concept in early March this year in the land of the white elephant. This problem resurfaced when the Japanese automaker released several teasers of the upcoming pickup truck in its final production form.
According to Seiji Watanabe, General Manager of Design at Mitsubishi Motors, the all-new Triton has been completely redesigned with the “Beast Mode” design concept. “In addition to expressing the toughness and strength one would expect from a pickup truck, the all-new Triton combines agility with a robust design to create an impressive appearance that is robust and reliable. the all-new Triton will make customers want to go on any adventure,” he said, quoted from the paultan page on June 20, 2023.
Based on what we can see in the teaser, the new Triton seems to live up to those words. The impressive front end features a strong grille with horizontal slats, which is accompanied by the Mitsubishi script positioned just above the central logo. The bonnet also seems to have a higher edge than before.
In terms of lighting, Mitsubishi says the LED daytime running lights at the top resemble the “sharp stare of an eagle,” while the three-element headlights are said to have a three-dimensional look. As for the rear, we find the taillights with a characteristic T-shaped light that emphasizes the width of the vehicle.
Triton adopts the Nissan Navara platform
Inside, reportedly Triton it will feature an upright dashboard with a solid structure. A large touchscreen panel with buttons is also visible above the central air vent, while the digital panel and automatic climate control controls are located further down.
Other cab parts shown include the knob for engaging all-wheel drive modes (2H, 4H, 4HLc and 4LLc), the conventional handbrake, and buttons for selecting drive mode and activating grade control. Not visible is the instrument cluster, which is presumably a digital panel.
Technical details were not provided in the release, but it is reported that the Triton will use the new ladder-frame chassis shared with the Nissan Navara, although it has been significantly updated by Mitsubishi to suit its purpose. Claimed power will come from the 2.4-liter 4N16 DOHC turbodiesel engine that replaces the previous 4N15 unit.
Speaking of prices, Triton is sold in Indonesia from Rp. Rp 287 million. 510 million. So there is a chance that the new generation will increase if it enters Indonesia, along with the new features that are presented.
