The Seres electric car brand officially arrives in Indonesia, coinciding with the 2023 Periklindo Electric Vehicle Show (PEVS). In reality, Seres is not a new brand, but it already exists in China and various other countries. Its presence in Indonesia is effectively part of PT Sokonindo Automobile which is also the owner of the DFSK brand.

The ongoing business is in the new energy vehicle corridor with basic batteries, electric motors and controllers, research and development (R&D), manufacturing, sales and after-sales services. This at the same time makes Seres an automobile brand in Indonesia that presents vehicles based on 100% electrification.

In the official version we have received, the very name Seres comes from the Greek meaning the country of Sutra. It symbolizes the Orient and has a high-level meaning. Therefore, Seres electric car brand will pave the Silk Road with high-end products, open up, and towards a global enterprise.

As they are still tied to DFSK, they are trademarks Sere electric car directly has a large network in Indonesia. In other words, all DFSK dealers and workshops are also ready to provide assistance on Seres products.

What is most special is that Seres directly manufactures its vehicles locally using the DFSK factory in Cikande, Banten. They even promised that they are ready to advance the domestic auto industry by exporting its products to various countries.

“Our factory will produce Seres electric cars, not only for domestic needs but also for export. This is our contribution to Indonesia,” added Franz Wang.

The presence of the Seres electric car brand in Indonesia was also followed by the introduction of its product, Seres E1. This is a small car that will become a rival to the Wuling Air EV.

At the moment E1 series Not yet officially sold at PEVS 2023. However, sales have started to open orders if interested. Franz said that if Seres E1 is officially sold in mid-2023, it will most likely be GIIAS 2023.

Talking about the specification of Seres E1 electric car, it has two battery capacities: 13.8Kwh (180km mileage) and 16.8kWh (220km mileage). Where for the battery, use lithium iron phosphate technology (IP67). Charging time from 10 to 90 percent takes just 4.5 hours with a 3.3 kW AC charger.

The Seres E1 battery is capable of supplying power to the electric motor on the rear wheels of the car with a torque of up to 100 Nm and an output of 30 kW or the equivalent of 40 HP. Meanwhile, the claimed 0-50km/h acceleration capability takes just 5.1 seconds.

Pricing for the Seres E1 hasn’t been announced yet. Even so, many sales have leaked the official price tag starting at IDR 180-220 million. Interesting right?
