The EcoDiesel engine of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon itself has been around since 2020 and will be discontinued after 2023. The Jeep Wrangler is one of the most iconic off-road cars and has become the hallmark of the brand from the United States. In addition to being equipped with a petrol engine, the Jeep Wrangler is actually in a variant with a Diesel engine. In 2022, Jeep decided to stop production of the diesel-powered variant called EcoDiesel starting in 2023.

As a farewell, Jeep is introducing a special edition Wrangler Rubicon FarOut Edition with the use of the EcoDiesel engine that will soon be discontinued.

Here’s what it looks like

As Motor1 reported on Thursday (9/29/2022), basically the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon FarOut Edition still looks exactly the same as the standard variant. There are some special details that are pinned on this car. The most noticeable is the presence of a 3.0 D emblem showing the use of this Diesel engine.

In addition to this special FarOut Edition, Jeep has also installed a sticker with the 3.0 Diesel lettering on a black background on the hood. In addition to distinguishing it from the Wrangler Rubicon Standard variant, there are special star design wheels with a size of 17 inches that are fitted with MT tires as standard.

The rest, starting with the use of headlights, taillights, Rubocon lettering on the side of the hood are already present as standard. Likewise, several safety features such as Jeep Safety Group, Cold Weather Group, Trailer-Tow and Heavy Duty Electrical Group and several off-road features are also standard.

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with its own EcoDiesel engine uses an engine with a displacement of 3,000 cc, V6 Turbo Diesel with 260 hp and 650 Nm of torque which transmits its power through a 4 × 4 with an 8-speed automatic transmission from ZF . This engine was actually introduced from 2020 ago and the exact reason why the EcoDiesel engine will no longer be sold is unknown.

Jim Morrison as Jeep’s North American boss said Jeep listened to every consumer input for their legendary 4 × 4 cars like this Wrangler. “This Wrangler Rubicon FarOut Edition is one of our tokens of gratitude for the Wrangler EcoDiesel engine, which is also our consumer choice,” said Morrison.

The Jeep Wrangler FarOut Edition is only available for the North American market, which makes it impossible in other parts of the world such as Indonesia. And the number that will be sold is also limited, although the exact number of units is not indicated. And this special edition will only be available on the market until next November.

Subsequently, Jeep will market the Jeep Wrangler only with a 2,000cc Turbo Hybrid petrol engine and 3,600cc Pentastar V6 in addition to the 392 and 4xe Hybrid models to be launched soon. But there is still the EcoDiesel variant for the Double Cabin version, namely the Jeep Gladiator.
