Yogyakarta AHRT rider Rheza Danica wins Mandalika 250cc National Championship

Astra Honda Racing Team (AHRT) Rheza rider Danica Ahrens managed to win the first race of the inaugural Motorcycle Racing National Championship (Kejurnas) series at the Mandalika Racing Series event at Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit, West Nusa Tenggara which is is held on Saturday (4/3)/2023), in conjunction with the 2023 FIM Superbike World Championship.

Rigorously competing with dozens of other National riders over 8 rounds of racing, Rheza won best lap on lap 5 and was able to maintain his best results to the finish to take his first podium finish in the 250cc class. Meanwhile, a 13-year-old young rider, MK Ramadhipa, also showed positive performance in his first race after being trained by the Astra Honda Racing School last year. Ramadhipa managed to finish in fifth position.

The other two AHRT drivers failed to achieve their dreams in the inaugural race of this national championship. Veda Ega Pratama crashed on lap 5 and was unable to finish the race. Herjun Atna Firdaus did not take part in the first race due to a crash during the qualifying session.

“Alhamdulillah, I won my first podium in this inaugural series. From free practice to qualifying, I have a good feeling with the CBR250RR. I try to constantly maintain the pace of the race up to three laps before the finish trying to consolidate the gap. Finally I am managed to touch the finish line the first time. We hope that in the second race tomorrow we can keep the consistency to get the best results,” said Rheza.

“Thank God I was able to finish 5th in my first experience racing the 250 class. I will put even more effort into the second race tomorrow,” said Ramadhipa.

“I started the race from the front of the grid. Even though I got a good start and led the race in the early laps, unfortunately in this race I lost front wheel grip and crashed on lap five at turn 10. This is my first opportunity to use the CBR250RR, support me tomorrow. second race to get the best results,” said Veda.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t continue the race because I crashed in qualifying, due to an injury to my right little finger, so the doctor said I wasn’t fit to continue racing in this race. I hope I can recover quickly to prepare for the opening round of the ARRC Buriram this weekend,” Herjun said.
